Erotic Artbeat Northwest – February Edition

One of the most amazing things about Portland is our love of art and all things creative. In our non-monogamous lifestyle we combine our love of art, along with our love of sex and we have several venues that host erotic art galleries. The following is a listing of those places, information about their galleries, and when and how you can view them. We will also talk a bit about the artists who are featured there when the information is available.

Gallery Privata

Gallery Privata is well known for all things stylish and posh, but their Art Gallery is one of the featured aspects of the establishment. On Thursday, February 7th, 2019 Gallery Privata will be celebrating an opening of the artistry of Erik Tandberg.

Erik Tandberg

Erik Tandberg was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, surrounded by many artistic influences within his immediate family, including concert musicians, textile artists, and a well respected Norwegian sculptor. His family immigrated to Canada in his youth, and despite their artistic influences, Erik was drawn instead to natural history, graduating with advanced degrees in physics. He published seminal work, at a young age, that examined the interaction of antimatter and matter, and has since spent most of his professional career working internationally on leading edge technology.

Erik lives between the urban landscapes of Portland and the endless awe of the Columbia Gorge with his partner and muse,  continually refining his craft, and wildly feeding his passion. He balances his work environment between a renovated barn and a converted carriage house as his creative studios. He can likely be found exploring the outdoors and creating images that merge the illusionary lines between nature and nudes.

I had a nice tumblr, but it has been totally censored:

The study of light and images has always been an integral part of Erik’s life, professional and personal… always feeling a natural synergy between these two states of mind. He bought his first real camera, a medium format, when he was 16 years old, while voraciously reading and finding inspiration in the works of  Ansel Adams, Robert Mapplethorpe and Ruth Bernhard. Erik always dreamed of light and its interaction with objects, and was drawn to the fine textures that shadows create. This fascination of textures is what motivated much of his art. The younger self pursued physics, which left little time feeding his desire to create beautiful photography. Now with years of wisdom and endless nights dreaming in vivid imagery, Erik found a way to balance his time between science, and the study of textures, integrating these together in his art.

Club Privata will be hosting a Public art opening of Tandberg’s fine work, with no door fee and no membership requirement, from 6-8pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019. Come view the art, talk with the artist, and sample some of the tasty beverages from local breweries, wineries and distillers.

The Sanctuary Club is a an upscale and elegant event space and nightclub. Sanctuary provides a gathering space for a large and diverse sex-positive community. Sanctuary welcomes all gender identities and relationship configurations, LGBTQ+, poly, swing, kink, POC, and all curious, like-minded, happy people. Their venue is ADA accessible.

Sanctuary offers a full bar, lounge seating, dance floor, open play areas, dungeon furniture, ample sanitary supplies, and a fun, convivial atmosphere.

Lucian Schmit

Lucian has always loved the softer look of film photography as well as skin against textured fabric. Starting in the 90s and always working with natural light, he works with friends and a traveling art model with an emphasis on anonymous and cropped figures. He has shown around Portland in various venues over the years.

Influenced by Barbarella, Burningman, and Bourbon, Lucian will be showing black and white nudes produced over many years. Working with film only in natural light, these prints may evoke nostalgia in some.
